India staged a big comeback to win the second T20 match by a commanding margin of 100 runs, following their first defeat to Zimbabwe. With three games left in the five-match series, this win tied the series at one. India will be fielding their C side in this series as their major players are not available because they are playing in the World Cup.
In the second match, India was batting first when captain Shubman Gill was dismissed early by Muzarabani, giving them an early disadvantage. But Abhishek Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad’s incredible collaboration flipped the tide. With eight sixes and seven fours in his brilliant innings of 100 runs off just 47 balls, Abhishek Sharma achieved his first century in a Twenty20 international match. India’s score increased to 234 in the allocated overs because to Rinku Singh’s explosive 48 off 22 balls.
Zimbabwe retaliated by losing an early wicket in the first over of their chase. Brian Bennett made a quick, aggressive cameo, scoring 27 runs off just 9 balls, but Zimbabwe was unable to gain any ground towards the objective. After they were eventually bowled out for 134, wickets fell frequently. With 43 runs off 39 balls, Wesley Madhevere led Zimbabwe’s scorers in scoring.
With his remarkable century, Abhishek Sharma earned the Man of the Match award, which is deserved given his potential and future worth to the Indian squad.
With Saturday, July 13th, set for the next game, the series is now tied at one.
